Information Strategy and Projects Unit (ISAP)

Provides records services; oversees the provision of e-library services; manages information policy and strategy; provides procurement and contract administration services, supplies IT project and program management expertise.

Specific duties

Reporting to the Director of ISAP the Assistant Director of Information Strategy is independently responsible for:

  1. Management of the operation of a small records and information resources team that delivers high quality services aligned with the Treasury’s corporate plan, Enterprise Information Strategy and Information Governance Framework.
  2. Promotion of and monitoring organisational compliance with Commonwealth legislative and regulatory information management requirements and initiating timely and targeted risk mitigation activities when necessary.
  3. Development and implementation of compliant records management solutions as part of an information governance framework through proactive systematic analysis and design of organisational systems and business processes.
  4. Development and maintenance of a cost-effective and efficient archival and disposal program and records preservation strategy.
  5. Provision of expert advice to Treasury’s internal clients on policies and guidelines for the management of documents and records.
  6. Monitoring and updating, when necessary, policies, guidelines and procedures to support compliant information management in the Treasury.
  7. Management, administration, review, and negotiation of contracts with service providers.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executive, clients, service providers, other government agencies and professional bodies.
  • Represent ISB and or the Treasury at various meetings and forums.
  • Lead and or assist the Information Strategy and Project Unit with other duties as directed.
  • Active participation in the Department’s performance management system while ensuring opportunities for professional and personal development is available to staff.
  • Ensure the application of workplace diversity and work health and safety principles and guidelines in the workplace.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

  • Qualifications or extensive experience in information or records management would be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy requirements for information and records management within Commonwealth Government, or the ability to quickly acquire that knowledge.
